What Is Vaping?

The act of inhaling intense plumes of smoke or vapours from a gadget or electronic cigarettes is vaping. What is Vape?

Vapes are small, portable, and handheld electronic devices made only for adults. These gadgets produce inhalable smoke vapour that includes nicotine and other flavours. The first electronic cigarettes sold in the market were made to look exactly like a tobacco cigarette. These vapes are also called the Cig-A-Like. These vapes were released by a Chinese company, Ruyan in 2000, and it reached Europe and America in 2007. In recent times, we now have different types of vapes that come in unique designs, power rangers, and vapour-making abilities. However, the basics of how they work are still the same as the first vape. 

The Working of a Vape

Whatever vape you get your hands on, all of them work on the same principle: a vape mod or battery source provides power to the heating element (coil), which in turn vaporises the e-liquid in the atomizer (a small chamber). This fires up the vape and then the user is able to inhale the vapour via a small mouthpiece. 

It must be noted that vape only functions as a complete system. You cannot expect one component to function independently. Those who have been vaping for some time, usually opt for a la carte to mix and match their vape parts, but if you’re a beginner, we recommend that you stick to pre-packaged or starter kits that include everything so that you don’t have to worry about compatibility issues. 

All You Need To Know About The Power Source 

The battery component in vapes is called the vape mod. This generally utilises lithium-ion batteries. Vape mods can be found in various forms and sizes, and they are also named differently. For instance, vape pens, box mods, tube mods, pod vapes and e-cigarettes. The word “mod” was assigned in the early days of vape when users would modify their gadgets to get more power. 

Currently, vape mods come with a broad range of electronic features and power limits. Some of these devices are very advanced and allow you to adjust the wattages and even allow the user to control temperatures, while other gadgets do not require any technological know-how from the user and therefore they have no adjustability options. 

In the lower power category, you get pod vapes, vape pens, e-cigarettes and the All in ones. In these gadgets, you won’t need to have any prior experience, they come with a small rechargeable battery with adjustable power and are concealable. 

In the medium power category, you will get tube mods, box mods and the all in ones. Here you will need a little experience to get the best out of these gadgets. Moreover, the battery safety knowledge is needed. These devices have a medium-sized rechargeable battery that is either built-in or can be replaced and usually allows to adjust the power (up to 100 watts). 

In the higher power category, mechanical mods and box mods are the two prominent options available. You will need experience in vaping to use these. These devices come with multiple replaceable batteries, and you will need battery safety knowledge to operate them in the right manner. These gadgets are portable but are relatively heavier. Also, you get to adjust power over here (up to 200+ watts). 

The Vapour Source

The vape atomiser generates vapours, which is also called a vape tank. This chamber is connected to the vape mod and it contains a resistance heating element, the metal coil, along with an absorbent wick that is saturated with e-liquid. The coil heats the liquid from the wick as the user takes a hit, and vapours are produced instantly. 

All the atomisers contain e-juice. However, some have more capacity than others. The starter kits usually are made for simplicity, while the advanced ones are far more complex and therefore are only good for hobbyists. The 4 main categories are:

Similar to vape mods, the atomisers also have great variations. The most important aspect to remember is that they should work well with the vape mod. Not all the atomisers will fit properly in the vape mods, and some aren’t compatible because of their different coil resistance and power.
